Introduce yourselves!

First of all, I want to thank all of the people who subscribe to my blogs and follow me on twitter, FB and all the other online places I have made friend and followers.

For this weeks blog post I have a request. I would like you to introduce yourselves and tell me a little bit about you and your horses and or other animals companions. I know there are a lot people following the blogs so leave a comment so I can get to know you better. Even ask a question or offer a topic idea for a future blog. Even if I know you already, just say hi or give me an update on your equine activities. I can't wait to hear from you!

  1. Almost new to horses, but old myself. Trying to pick all knowledge I can to be a kinder, gentler, smarter owner/rider. I'm intrigued by your comments on the bitless bridle. Thanks, Maggie

  2. I found Farah via Carolyn Resnick's first Waterhole Rituals teleseminar class. I participated as a listener only and was always impressed with Farah's questions and input so I looked her up.

I rescued a 2-yr old Paint gelding (now 6) without any previous horse ownership savvy because it was either rescue him or sell my house and move so I didn't have to watch him suffer. Orphaned at 5 weeks, he was raised in dismal, muddy, shelterless isolation until he was gelded at 2, then tossed into a mud lot with 5 mares and one pile of hay. The mares were going to kill him before he learned his manners or he died of starvation. Left-brained, introverted, and so desensitized he lost his flight response, he preferred to stand and fight. Once I took him out of that environment, he became a very curious, sociable bully with a side of class clown. Never mean, just uber dominant, and if frustrated, confused or challenged, he digs in for the duration. He tests the boundaries of every human who comes into his sphere but for whatever reason, I empathize and "get" him. My agenda is to do what's necessary to create a magnetic connection, and I have more patience for him than most others might. Farah's helping me find and walk the tightrope he considers "leader" material.

  3. My name is Rachael. i am not new to horses but new to the demands that my current horse, Penny, a 14 year old Appaloosa mare needs. She is a big Appy, standing 16.1hh and she's extremely smart and crafty! She used to get overly excited approaching a jump of any size until I started using one of Farahs excercises, half seat over a pole. It is an amazing excercise and definatly helps in many areas, not just over fences.
It has improved Penny's balance, the use of her hind end, and she now longer gets so excited when approaching a fence. Thank You Farah!

  4. I am Amy I just happened upon your blog through youtube. I am currently training my recently adopted thoroughbred ex racehorse. I have owned him about two months but have only concentrated on flat work. He is not perfect yet but I feel he is ready to start jumping. He is 10 years old and retired last December. He is very eager to please and is a lover. I just heard of this natural horsemanship training and love the concept but not the way I was taught. I plan to keep researching this. Any help on where to begin would be great, thanks.
